New lists posted

The .pdf files for the 648 Commissioned Officers (90 pages), 47 Non-Commissioned Officers (9 pages), and 188 identifed units (52 pages) in our collection of lists have been posted in our regular weekly update of our website.

October 25, 2015

Added today: 11 units (Division to Battalions) and 17 Officers of the 3rd Division of Maryland Militia in the War of 1812.  This brings the collection to 644 commissioned officers and 186 identified units.

New Listings

October 22, 2015

Added to our coverage of the Virginia Militia: 2 regiments and 2 companies in the Henrico and Charles City County areas, along with 15 previously unlisted officers, in the period 1657-1661.  This brings the collection to 627 commissioned officers and 185 identified units.

New additions to the collection of lists include 47 new Field Officers and 13 new Regiments of the North Carolina Militia in 1775, bringing our total to 612 commissioned officers and 181 identified units.

We have added 9 Regiments and 29 Field Officers of the North Carolina Militia as of 1775-09-09 to the collection of lists bringing us to 612 commissioned officers and 168 units.  Updated .pdf lists of Officers, Units, and the Source list are posted for your use.

We have added the Accomack County (Virginia) Militia and 3 Officers, from Bacon's Rebellion of 1676, to the collection of lists.

We have added 6 new Regiments of North Carolina Militia from September 1775, along with 23 new listings of their officers; our new total of officers in the register is 580.  We should finish the 1775 North Carolina field officers by the end of next weekend.

We have completed the transition of our list of units to a .pdf document, updated weekly and posted as file link in the Units page.  This includes adding 1 Massachusetts Militia Company from the Revolutionary War and 2 Tennessee Militia Regiments from the War of 1812, bringing the total to 135 units…

We have added two regiments of Tennessee militia in the War of 1812 and a Minute Company from 1775 to the unit list and 28 officers (471 total) and 7 non-commissioned officers (26 total) to the registers.  Expect updated .pdfs of all three lists to be posted this weekend.

We have added 26 Majors, Captains, Lieutenants, Cornets, and Ensigns and 13 Sergeants and Corporals from the Kentucky Light Dragoons in the War of 1812 to the registers, bring us to 443 Officers and 19 Non-Commissioned Officers.

We are moving the Officer register to a single, downloadable .pdf document.  The result is easier to manage and probably easier to use.  We will be uploading an updated version each week.  Today we added 12 Tennessee Militia officers from the War of 1812, bringing our total to 417 names.

We have added 26 Officers and 2 Regiments of the Tennessee Militia in the War of 1812 to our lists.  In addition, there are 8 new entries for Commanders of Garrisons in Lancaster, Massachusetts, in Queen Anne's War.  This brings our list of officers to 405 names.

We have added 60 new Officers to our register, bringing the total to 365 names.  One of our members is working on a paper examining the rank structure of the Florida Militia in the Third Seminole War based on surviving rolls.

We have added 19 officers of the Tennessee Militia in the War of 1812 to the Register, bringing our total listed to 305.  Our goal for the year has been increased therefore from 300 to 500.
